Any business carried out in MBKT administration area require to get a business license.

  • General License
  • Hawkers And Small Retailers License
  • Industrial License

Applicants should fulfill the above rules within 14 days from the date of this letter. Failing to do so could cause this application will not be considered.

 

General License

  1. General Rules
    • License should be exhibited at all time at obvious place.
    • License cannot be transferred
    • The cleanliness of premise/eating place and the surrounding area should always be taken care of.
  2. Physical Structure
    • Premises should be repainted outside and inside
  3. Obstruction
    • It is y prohibited to put goods or other things for sale on the pathway
    • It is prohibited to obstruct side roads/back lanes and roadsides
    • Obstruction or hindrance at the entrance/exit is not allowed
  4. Sanitary Facility
    • To provide a good toilets and washrooms and their cleanliness should always be taken care of
  5. First 'Aid Facilities' (Emergency Aid)
    • To provide a first aid box and should always be equipped with medicines.
  6. Dumping And Disposal of Garbage
    • All unused materials should not be dumped all over the places but they should properly organized or thrown away
  7. Provide suitable and covered dustbins
  8. Fire Department Rules
    • To provide 9 kg fire extinguisher of dry charge type – ABD
    • Fire extinguishers should be sent to Fire Department every year to be tested
    • All fire extinguishers should be hanged 1 meter above the floor and near the exit ways so that they can easily be seen and grabbed.
    • All exit ways should be free from obstructions and hindrances.
  9. Perfect drainage system should be provided and maintained.

 

Hawkers And Small Retailers License

  1. Fire Department Rules
    • To provide 9 kg fire extinguisher of dry charge type – ABD.
    • Fire extinguishers should be sent to Fire Department every year to be tested
    • All fire extinguishers should be hanged 1 meter above the floor and near exit ways so that they can easily be seen and grabbed.
    • All exit ways should be free from obstructions and hindrances.
  2. Health Department Rules
    • To provide urinal for toilets and the cleanliness should always be observed
    • To provide washing place together with cleaning material
    • Premise should be repainted outside and inside
    • To provide clean water supply
    • To have smooth and waterproof surface such as tile or other acceptable material around the building walls from the front area until the kitchen with at least five feet height.
    • Cleanliness of the premise/eating place and the surrounding area should always be taken care of.
    • The Cleaning water should be directly connected to sewage system.
    • To provide grease trap
    • To provide good toilets and washrooms and the cleanliness is always be taken care of.
    • Actual drainage system should be provided and the cleanliness is taken care of.
    • All garbage and food remaining should be put in the plastic bag before throwing into dustbin.
    • The premise floor and wall should always be mopped and cleaned.
    • To provide a suitable and covered dustbin.
    • Applicants and all food operators should received TAB injection or medicines from MBKT clinic.
    • All food operators should wear head covers and apron
    • All food operators should register for attending Food operators Basic Course.
    • Ensure that self cleanliness is always being practice.
    • Ensure that applicants and other food operators have short finger nails and without infectious diseases such as diarrhea and skin diseases.
    • All unused materials should not be dumped everywhere but they should be properly organized or destroyed.
    • All raw food to be kept in special store and cooked food is kept in refrigerator to avoid flies and others.
    • Ensure that all foods are covered or exhibited in special place so that they will not be dirtied by flies, cockroaches and others.
    • All ingredients used in cooking should be kept in special containers and labelled.
    • All inedible or poisonous materials should be kept in special containers and Labeled.
    • It is totally prohibited to put goods and other things for sales on the pathway .
    • Obstructions and hindrances to entrance/exit ways are not allowed
    • Works should be carried out in the premise only and it is not allowed to be done outside the premise.
    • It is prohibited to obstruct side roads/back lanes and roadsides

 

Industrial License

  1. General Rules
    • License cannot be transferred.
    • License should be exhibited at place which can easily be seen.
    • Industrial license is only valid until 31st December.
    • Every license issued can be cancelled at any time if the owner disobeys any allocations of the council’s By-Laws.
    • License renewal need to be done before or on 28th February. It is an offence under the Local Government Act 1975 if the industry management party refuse to cooperate with industrial unit staffs in conducting a check within the premise.
  2. Cleanliness
    • The cleanliness of buildings and it’s surrounding need to be taken care of at all time.
  3. Disturbance/Obstruction
    • It is not allowed to place bulky goods at industry’s side roads/pathway / outside operational area. It is prohibited to make any obstruction at the back lanes or roadsides. Obstructions or hindrances at the entrance/exit ways is not allowed. Works should be carried out in the premise only and not allowed to be done outside the premise.
  4. Workers Safety
    • An adequate safety equipment for workers should be provided. Provide first aid box equipped with adequate light medicines.
  5. Drainage System
    • Maintenance of drainage system to ensure it is clean and functioning
    • Rubbish traps and oil filter box should always be clean
  6. Ventilation
    • Provide adequate exhaust fans.
    • Workers place temperature should be kept at 24 degrees Celsius.
    • Exhaust fans should be added.
  7. Fire Department Rule
    • Applicants should contact Fire Department to get the approval letter.
  8. Canteen
    • The cleanliness of canteen area and equipment should always be taken care of. Provide adequate and suitable (covered) dustbins. Canteen caterers and food operators should receive TAB injection and wear hats and aprons. Caterers and food operators should attend food handling basic course. Ensure that floors and walls are tiled (at least 5 feet). Provide clean pipe water.
