The discussion was held on June 18th, 2014 at Prinz Redang Hall, Prinzpark Resort, Kuala Terengganu. It was launched by YBhg. Dato’ Hj. Adzlan bin Mohd Dagang, the Kuala Terengganu City Mayor and about 70 participants attended the discussion consisting of various agencies such as government agencies, NGO’s, politicians, traders, JKKK’s and many others.

The main purpose of the discussion was to unite the public ideas and opinion especially those who were involved directly with Pasar Payang towards the rebuild of the market. It was a consequence from YAB. Chief Minister’s visit to the market recently which received protest from the traders. YAB. The Chief Minister then asked the Mayor to lead a discussion with the public in order to receive their feedbacks regarding the rebuild of the market. The task must be completed in one month before it will be presented to the State Government.

The emphasized aspects in the 3 hour discussion were :

(a) Relevant issues regarding Pasar Payang.

(b) Content, layout and needs of the traders.

(c) Conservation and heritage preservation.

(d) Tourism.

(e) Infrastructure, safety and user friendly building design.
